What you will be responsible for:

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated, dynamic leader and construction management professional to join Aro Homes as our Director of Land/Project Development. This critical role involves scaling to building dozens of homes per quarter in the Peninsula/South Bay Area. Reporting to the Co-CEO, the Director of Land/Project Development will define and implement strategies to accelerate entitlement, pre-con activities, construction timelines, inspire a team of Development Managers, and develop processes and tools for efficiency and cost reduction. The Project Development team will handle project feasibility, pre-construction activity, plan checking, entitlement and permitting, and obtaining approvals.

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure a culture of safety in the Project Development team and with partners.
  • Define and implement strategies to streamline entitlement and other processes.
  • Focus on increasing speed, removing inefficiency, and reducing costs.
  • Build a team to scale Project Development efforts.
  • Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Hire and lead a highly effective team, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Establish strong relationships with authorities and utilities to expedite processes.
  • Implement processes and tools for project efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Ensure projects adhere to standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Create systems for status visibility and issue identification.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 7-10+ years of experience in single-family residential project management.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple residential construction projects.
  • Strong experience in understanding building plans, design, and related fields.
  • Extensive knowledge of permitting processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Process-oriented with a focus on efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Drive for continuous improvement and learning.
  • Experience in coordinating modular home assembly projects is desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field a plus.
