We are currently looking for a Embedded Software Engineering Technician to join our busy and growing manufacturing company. For the right person this is an exciting opportunity to be developed and invested in to become an integral member of the Manufacturing Engineering team. We are looking for a highly motivated, focused, and outgoing person who wants to springboard their career with a thriving manufacturing company. You will be provided with the coaching and training needed throughout the onboarding and orientation process that will build from your base of skills acquired from your past experiences.
You will learn our business during your training with our experts in Customer Experience, Sales, Engineering and Operations.
Reporting directly to the ME and Facilities Manager, the Embedded Software Engineering Technician will support and troubleshoot issues with the programming of production equipment. Will work with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technologists to develop new controls related equipment and any other related assigned projects.
Participate in troubleshoot and investigations on existing software programs that are not completing cycle as expected
Work with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technologists to develop new controls related equipment
Assist quality control administrator to prepare reports and communications to obtain approval/ recertification of standards/references
All other duties and projects as assigned
Must hold strong knowledge of the following software languages and tools: Visual Basic 6, C#, Visual Studio, scripting languages, .NET (DOT NET), and strong knowledge of SQL databases, SQL Server, Networking, Cloud (Azure and AWS)
Good knowledge of PLC programming, Serial communication, and Modbus is considered an asset
Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to developers
Conduct software compatibility tests with programs, hardware, operating systems, or network environments
Design, prototype, implement, test, and document embedded software
Responsible for all phases of the software development life cycle (analysis, design, code, and test)
Develop system control and human-machine interface software
Generate specifications and design documentation to support software development.
Support the testing of electronics, mechanical, and software modules
Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a software/Electronics programmer with experience and exposure to a manufacturing environment
Community College Certificate/Diploma in Computer Science(s), Information Technology/Systems/Design, or Software Programming/Development, Computer Programming or Technical and/or Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering Technician Diploma, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related work experience
Problem solving and Root Cause Analysis training and experience considered an asset
Lean Manufacturing training and experience considered an asset
