We are currently looking for a Embedded Software Engineering Technician to join our busy and growing manufacturing company. The successful candidate will be engaged in elevating the department and company to the next level. The incumbent will be forward looking and thrive in a culture of continuous improvement.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Reporting directly to the ME and Facilities Manager, the Embedded Software Engineering Technician will support and troubleshoot issues with the programming of production equipment. Will work with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technologists to develop new controls related equipment and any other related assigned projects.
Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Support and troubleshoot issues with programming of production equipment
Participate in troubleshoot and investigations on existing software programs that are not completing cycle as expected
Participate in troubleshoot and investigations of production ejects
Work with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technologists to develop new controls related equipment
Assist quality control administrator to prepare reports and communications to obtain approval/ recertification of standards/references
Strong note and record keeping when making program changes to ensure future error proofing and understanding of new code implemented
All other duties and projects as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
Must be mechanically and electronically inclined
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Must be a self-starter and be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Poses excellent organizational and analytical skills
Must hold strong knowledge of the following software languages and tools:
Visual Basic 6, C#, Visual Studio, scripting languages, .NET (DOT NET), and strong knowledge of SQL databases, SQL Server, Networking, Cloud (Azure and AWS)
Experience working with Full Stack applications
Good knowledge of PLC programming, Serial communication, and Modbus is considered an asset
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to developers
Conduct software compatibility tests with programs, hardware, operating systems, or network environments
Design, prototype, implement, test, and document embedded software
Responsible for all phases of the software development life cycle (analysis, design, code, and test)
Develop system control and human-machine interface software
Generate specifications and design documentation to support software development.
Support the testing of electronics, mechanical, and software modules
Educational/Experience Requirements:
Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a software/Electronics programmer with experience and exposure to a manufacturing environment
Community College Certificate/Diploma in Computer Science(s), Information Technology/Systems/Design, or Software Programming/Development, Computer Programming or Technical and/or Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering Technician Diploma, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related work experience
Good working knowledge of OHSA and ISO 9001 Systems
Problem solving and Root Cause Analysis training and experience considered an asset
Lean Manufacturing training and experience considered an asset
