Role: The Director of Projects reports to the Vice President of Professional Services and is responsible for the projects to be delivered on time, budgeting, and maintaining required quality standards. He/she will manage 5 to 10 Project Managers. He/she identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends solutions to optimize business processes and workflow, thereby participating in the achievement of the company’s goals and the satisfaction of our clients.

Your Day with Equisoft:

Team Management

  • Define clear expectations and objectives with team members; provide appropriate learning tools and activities to attain objectives.
  • Understand the strategic product objectives and ensure they are adequately translated into either overall team objectives or individual objectives.
  • Build trust and camaraderie between team members, influence valuable changes and positive outcomes.
  • Consult frequently with team members and have regular touchpoints with each member of the team to discuss progress on goals, engagement, professional development, and more.
  • Establish an open discussion for decision-making, foster new ideas from team members, encourage and support independent thinking.
  • Cultivate a unique identity for the team; Build a unified department.
  • Recognize and acknowledge the skills of key team members and utilize their strengths to the benefit of the team.
  • Mediate disagreements between members. Set a behavioral code if necessary.
  • Evaluate results and provide feedback in a timely fashion.
  • Share the team’s challenges and successes with applicable stakeholders.
  • Manage your team’s budget, overall allocations, and resource distribution based on seniority level, skillset, etc.
  • Support the other directors and AVP in various key initiatives at the team, or division level.

Recruiting and Integration

  • Actively participate in the selection and interview process, as prescribed by Equisoft’s best practices.
  • Provide hiring recommendations.
  • Participate in the integration plan, and ensure that new employees receive the necessary support and training to meet the position’s requirements.
  • Accompany new employees after the probation period.

Skills Development and Training

  • Identify weaknesses and suggest areas of improvement in the team.
  • Motivate team members, ensure their good performance and actively contribute to the attainment of the goals and deliverables of the team.
  • Deliver or participate in training sessions to help with the integration of new knowledge and the development of the team’s expertise.
  • Ensure the company’s policies, as well as the standards and best practices, are respected.

Operation

  • Oversee the planning, management, and implementation of multiple projects related to Equisoft’s services.
  • Manage senior stakeholder relationships within the business, IT, and clients to ensure that expectations and priorities are clear, and that all required support is in place for successful project outcomes.
  • Ensure all IT projects are well-defined, tracked, controlled, and communicated in a consistent and effective manner.
  • Identify dependencies between programs and projects that will affect priority sequencing and resource allocation decisions.
  • Coordinate resources required to deliver services and deliverables.
  • Lead, coach, and support project managers to ensure all projects are delivered within the defined scope, quality, time, and cost requirement.
  • Manage and regularly report on PMO division results and issues.
  • Propose solutions to implementation hurdles.
  • Work closely with product teams to ensure cohesive projects and deliveries.
  • Support the sales process.
  • Be able to travel to visit Equisoft’s clients and offices, as required.

Requirements:

Technical

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT or finance project management and at least 3 years in a management role.
  • PMP certification or equivalent.
  • Experience in client-facing projects, not just internal initiatives.
  • Experience in Project Development Cycle Management.
  • Experience in the Financial Services or Insurance industries is a strong asset.
  • Very good knowledge of Web Technologies/Environment.
  • Proficient with Agile methodology.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in both French and English (spoken and written).
  • Organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong acumen in sales support.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery from vendor and client perspectives.
