Chief Estimator - Scarborough, Ontario

Black & McDonald's Southern Ontario team is expanding and seeking a dedicated Chief Estimator for their Scarborough, Ontario location. As the Chief Estimator, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of Mechanical Estimators and providing management, support, and assistance to the estimating team.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, with experience in commercial or industrial construction. They will have a degree or technical diploma in Engineering or Construction Technology and be a Designated Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) and/or Construction Estimator Certified (CEC).

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, coordinating, and directing all estimating functions
  • Providing management, support, and assistance to the estimating team
  • Ensuring the accuracy and leadership of the estimating team to maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace
  • Leading the estimating team to achieve business objectives and profitability

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in construction estimating
  • 10+ years of experience with larger complex project estimates
  • Degree or technical diploma in Engineering or Construction Technology
  • Designated Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) and/or Construction Estimator Certified (CEC)
  • Strong knowledge of estimation methods and techniques
  • Strong knowledge of construction management budgeting, design-build, and lump-sum tenders
  • Good negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Good client service and public interaction skills
  • Customer-focused; respond promptly to customer needs
  • Effective verbal, writing, and interpersonal communication skills
