The Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) Foundation is a not for profit organization responsible for raising funds in support of the Brantford General and Willett, Paris. The BCHS Foundation is an engaged partner to the BCHS and contributions made to the Foundation benefit the purchase of patient equipment, renovate spaces and provide investment in resources to enhance the exceptional care provided at the BCHS.

Position Summary:

The Development Coordinator, Special Events is a key member of the BCHS Foundation team, providing expertise in the planning, co-ordination and implementation of various special events activities, at both the strategic and delivery levels. This role is responsible for maximizing fundraising revenue through engaging, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donor relationships to benefit the BCHS Foundation. This position is a positive, helpful and informed representative to our external and internal communities; including donors, visitors, hospital personnel, Board members and community leaders.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Plan, organize, co-ordinate and execute premier annual fundraising events that maximize revenue and exposure, build and strengthen community relationships and partnerships, diversify participation and broaden community engagement.
• Develop and manage individual event budgets and ensure total event revenue and expenses meets or exceeds expectations.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures for all special event administration.
• Identify and solicit prospects for in-kind donations for Foundation events to maximize revenue generation and provide cost-containment opportunities.
• Track key metrics associated with event management and conduct post-event follow-up/action.
• Develop and provide event analysis and budget report to Management, and stakeholders, as appropriate, for evaluation and future planning.
• Personal and timely stewardship/recognition to participants, sponsors, volunteers, stakeholders and internal staff to communicate success of event and express our appreciation.
• Develop goals and objectives for committees, facilitate meetings and lead committees towards successfully completing established goals and objectives.
• Recruit and steward engaged and committed volunteers for committees, building strong relationships and networks that will benefit the goals and objectives of the BCHS Foundation.
• Identify, cultivate and solicit and steward sponsors for the benefit of the BCHS Foundation.
• Encourage and liaise with community, providing appropriate support and resources for third party events.
• Coordinate applications for third party events and ensure appropriate approvals.
• Identify third party events for growth potential and evaluate cost-benefit of providing direct support.

Community Engagement
• Facilitate opportunities within events to communicate other BCHS Foundation activities and fundraising programs to transition participants into other opportunities for giving.
• Make recommendations to increase the community awareness of Foundation related activities and develop strategies to encourage increased community engagement.

Administration & Customer Service
• Liaise with Administrative & Financial Coordinator to ensure proper entry of all donor information, event invitation and participant lists on appropriate technology and in Raiser’s Edge database.
• Utilizing the Raiser’s Edge Database, maintaining up to date records of interactions with donors.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Graduate of post-secondary program in fundraising, event, communications, public relations or related field.
• 3-5 years of related work experience
• Experience working with volunteers
• Knowledge and experience in a non-profit an asset
• Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
• Excellent writing and project management skills
• Knowledge of communication and media relation strategies, processes and available resources
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and meet critical deadlines
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle will be necessary.
