The Senior Oracle DBA focuses on designing, coding, and optimizing 24/7 production database structures to operate cohesively with application architecture components. The Senior Oracle DBA proactively achieves operational enhancements through continuous performance monitoring, analysis, and tuning of existing systems, and collaborating with other teams to determine needs and new opportunities for improvement.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities
  • Provide enterprise-wide technical expertise in ORACLE database administration to the database team, application development teams, data architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including performing proactive maintenance such as ensuring continued space availability, monitoring activity, and documenting problems, changes, and solutions.
  • Interact with other teams (QA, Development, etc.) to resolve problems and identify system enhancements.
  • Install, upgrade, patch, and maintain Oracle 11gR2 and 19c databases and OS.
  • Design, implement and monitor backup and disaster recovery processes for on premise and cloud environments.
  • Performance monitoring and tuning on query, DB, and OS levels using OEM and custom scripts, good knowledge of database internal views.
  • Lead database projects and provide guidance to junior team members.
Supervisory Responsibility

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience with Oracle versions 11gR2 to 19c administration.
  • 10+ years of experience with Oracle Real Application Cluster, including installation, upgrade, and patching.
  • Extensive knowledge of ASM, ACFS, and DBFS file systems internals.
  • Understanding and hand-on experience with HA solution for DB (DataGuard and Goldengate) and for application (UCP, ONS, FAN, AC).
  • Strong logical and physical DB design skills, including partitioning (newest features), indexing, etc.
  • Experience in disaster recovery using RMAN and enterprise backup and restore solutions (i.e. Netvault)

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Physical Demands

This job requires extensive sitting or standing at a computer station.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Regular days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. The role also involves 24/7 support, scheduled with weekly rotations. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Limited travel may be required for this position.
