Russell Hendrix Foodservice Equipment is looking to add a Designer experienced in commercial kitchen design to our Contracts team in Toronto. You’ll be a pivotal part of the teams’ operations, seeking out new business and generating leads to sell, close, and design challenging and technical projects. This position requires initiative, drive to deliver on goals, high attention to detail, and the ability to manage internal and external relationships. What You’ll Do:

  • Develop 2D Commercial Kitchen drawings to reflect project requirements and design criteria.
  • Develop new business by leveraging brand and company strengths through networking and lead generation.
  • Meet with prospective clients to assess needs and costs for design/projects.
  • Maintain an up-to-date pipeline of all business development opportunities.
  • Maintain client relationships through to completion and follow up of projects.
  • Collaborate with the Estimating and Project Management teams regarding fees associated with design, meeting deadlines, etc.
  • Collaborate with co-workers and superiors to ensure exceptional quality of design and customer service.
  • Prepare design drawings and recommend commercial kitchen equipment based on clients’ needs.
  • Ensure design guidelines and construction specifications are respected during production of drawings.
  • Ensure that building codes and standards are met.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge and at least 3 years of experience in Design and AutoCAD.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Institutional Management, Project Management, Interior Design, or a related field.
  • You have design-related sales experience.
  • You have experience in lead generation and business development.
  • You have experience and understanding of food service operations – processes, flow, efficiencies, and applicable codes.
  • You have a general understanding of construction, as well as mechanical and electrical design.
  • You have knowledge of restaurant licenses and permits involved in designing a commercial kitchen.
  • You can efficiently manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • You can be flexible in response to changing priorities and needs.
  • You are goal-oriented and commit to deliverables.
  • Your verbal and written communication skills are excellent.
  • You have a keen eye for detail, and are deadline oriented.
  • You are highly collaborative and team-oriented.
  • Comfortable with giving and receiving feedback.
