About the role

We have a rare opportunity for a Desktop Engineer who will lead the development and support of IT end-user services and systems in line with our wider IT strategy. As we move through our biggest digital transformation you will be rewarded with lots of variety and get the chance to be hands on at our villages splitting your time across the helpdesk, system, administration, and other exciting IT projects. Based in our Newmarket support office and reporting to our IT Service Delivery Manager, you will be customer orientated and not afraid to get your hands dirty and go the extra mile to find a solution.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Help Desk:

  • Providing cover support and or assistance to staff
  • Troubleshooting software and hardware issues
  • Assisting with the support of all aspects of LAN-based networking
  • Procurement and provisioning of endpoint devices

 System Administration:

  • Support of software images for endpoint devices
  • Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical computer and peripheral resources.
  • Manage the deployment, configuration and update of business applications and endpoint devices.

IT Projects

  • Provide progress reports as required on all allocated activities.
  • Ensure opportunities are identified and recommendations made within the framework of the IT strategic plan.
  • Ensure IT projects are successfully managed to their agreed conclusion on time and within budget.

About you
With a relevant degree and at least two years' experience within an IT support role (1 st and 2 nd line), you will be a highly capable, customer focused operator with outstanding communication skills. You think outside of the box, a quiet sense of urgency and keen to develop your career. Technically you will have experience in the following.

  • Practical knowledge of techniques to ensure resilience and performance of IT systems and services
  • Proven experience in delivery of desktop solutions and managing desktop builds
  • Proficiency in Microsoft support tools such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory & Cloud support
  • Advanced knowledge of patch management and software distribution
