Project Engineer/Manager, Land Development - Private Sector

Pickering or Mississauga, Ontario

Are you an intermediate land development engineer looking for a dynamic and supportive workplace? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Private Sector Land Development team at Pickering or Mississauga.

The land development group, for this portion of the business, works on a diverse range of projects, including ICI and Mixed-Use developments, and maintains strong relationships with both major builders and local developers.

You'll have the opportunity to engage with clients from concept to completion, ensuring their visions become reality.

About the Role:

As a key member of the team, you'll be the main point of contact for clients on various land development projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Overseeing and managing day-to-day project tasks across multiple offices
  2. Ensuring project schedules, deadlines, and budgets are communicated and met
  3. Acting as the primary client contact and managing all client and external agency correspondence
  4. Supporting and motivating the project team to meet client needs efficiently
  5. Managing project budgets, preparing proposals, and leading business development initiatives
  6. Developing strong relationships with clients and identifying new business opportunities
  7. Working closely with staff at all levels to ensure project efficiency and professionalism
  8. Conducting invoicing and A/R
  9. Managing and leading quality control process
  10. Traveling for client and agency meetings, and occasional site visits
  11. Supporting other internal project teams from other sectors when needed

What we’re Looking For:

  1. Registered Professional Engineer (Ontario / PEO) with a minimum of 7 years of licensure
  2. A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with at least 7-10 years of land development experience
  3. At least 5 years of design and project management experience in land development
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project
  5. Strong knowledge of municipal and provincial review processes and standards
  6. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects and lead staff teams effectively
  8. Valid Ontario driver’s license and vehicle

Additional Assets:

  1. Formal project management training (PMP designation or similar)
  2. Experience in subdivision design, SWM, peer reviews, flood plain modeling, water distribution modeling, sewer design, and stormwater management
  3. Field services and contract administration experience
