StrategyCorp Ottawa is looking for a new Government Relations Associate to join our team.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The successful candidate will have interest and knowledge of the federal government and Canadian politics and will share our passion for delving into complex issues that require strategic thinking, problem solving, and a good understanding of government relations.


HERE ARE THE MUST HAVES:

  • Degree or diploma in Public Policy, Political Science, Public Administration or similar program.
  • 1 – 2 years' experience in the Government Relations field or equivalent – ideally in federal politics
  • Knowledge of public policy development and familiarity with major public policy issues and the political environment


TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL NEED:

  • Excellent writing skills with superior attention to detail
  • To be able to balance multiple projects and meeting deadlines without sacrificing an eye for detail.
  • Knowledge of the machinery of governments (federal and provincial), the public sector, and the private sector
  • Direct experience working in government or a demonstrated involvement in politics
  • Exemplary customer service skills, including dealing effectively with clients, elected officials, and government/political staff
  • Strong decision-making abilities within the scope of the position and areas of responsibilities
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills, initiative, and sound independent judgment
  • Ability to work flexibly to tight deadlines, under pressure, as part of a team
  • Excellent research skills to pursue topics through various online/offline sources
  • Core math skills (an asset)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint).
