Position Overview

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer will join Grieg Seafood’s team as they expand their operations in Marystown, NL. The successful candidate will oversee various aspects of the construction phase, including concrete and rebar inspections, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards. In addition to inspections, the Project Engineer will be involved in other engineering duties to support the successful completion of the project.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conducting thorough inspections of concrete and rebar installations to ensure quality, adherence to specifications, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Preparing detailed inspection reports, including documenting findings, recommendations, and any deviations from project plans.
  3. Collaborating with the project team (e.g., contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies) to address any issues or concerns related to construction quality and safety.
  4. Assisting the Project Manager and project engineering team in coordinating construction activities, scheduling inspections, and managing project documentation.
  5. Assisting in coordinating design packages with engineering consultants and project engineering team.
  6. Providing technical support and guidance to contractors and construction crews to resolve engineering-related issues effectively.
  7. Assisting in reviewing and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  8. Performing site visits and monitoring construction progress to ensure that work is being carried out according to established timelines and quality standards.
  9. Participating in project meetings and communicating regularly with the Project Manager and other stakeholders to provide updates on construction activities and address any concerns.
  10. Providing input on the selection of construction materials and equipment to ensure compatibility with project requirements and budget constraints.
  11. Supporting the development of engineering specifications, standards, and procedures for construction activities.
  12. Acting as the liaison between the on-site concrete contractor and structural concrete engineer on record.
  13. Reviewing RFIs with the ability to respond in a timely fashion between the Engineer of Record (EOR) and concrete contractor.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Engineering Technologist Diploma with relevant experience in concrete inspections and rebar installations will be considered.
  2. Minimum of four (4) years of experience in the construction industry.
  3. Strong knowledge of concrete and rebar inspection techniques, as well as relevant codes and standards.
  4. Experience with mechanical/electrical work packages is considered an asset.
  5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  6. Detail-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
