Building Science (Architecture) TechnologistJoin to apply for the Building Science (Architecture) Technologist role at Pinchin in CanadaBuilding Science (Architecture) TechnologistJoin to apply for the Building Science (Architecture) Technologist role at Pinchin in CanadaGTA, ONPinchin is seeking staff with knowledge of architectural and/or engineering fundamentals to join our Building Science team in one of our GTA Offices (Mississauga, Toronto locations).Building Science TechnologistBuilding Science GroupGTA, ONPinchin is seeking staff with knowledge of architectural and/or engineering fundamentals to join our Building Science team in one of our GTA Offices (Mississauga, Toronto locations).The successful candidate should have sound knowledge and understanding of building systems including general knowledge of architectural features such as structure, building enclosures, mechanical and electrical systems, roofing systems, interior elements, site features, etc.A Day in the life of a Building Science Technologist at Pinchin:Conduct Building and Property Condition Assessments for due diligence and/or capital planning purposes in accordance with the ASTM standards and UniFormat and best construction practices at various client sites.Capital planning Building Condition Assessments.Review and complete assessments of existing buildings and structures (roof assemblies, exterior cladding assemblies, balcony assemblies, fenestrations, and parking garage structures) to determine design and remedial work options.Conduct invasive building assessments and testing (ex. Roof cut tests, water / leak tests, etc.)Carry out all necessary quantity take-offs and measurements over the course of a project.Development of designs and specifications for restoration projects.Carry out construction reviews to ensure quality standards and design requirements are achieved.Prepare written reports of findings, summarizing, collating, and interpreting the results of field data and creating detailed AutoCAD drawings.Financial involvement and coordination with project.Maintain QA/QC protocols.Maintain health and safety protocols as well as quality control within the group.Perform any other job-related duties that may be assigned.What You Bring To The Pinchin TeamArchitectural Technician/Civil Engineering Technologist /Construction Technician/Science diploma, B.A. or B.Sc. in Architecture, B.Sc. in Building Science.Knowledge with Building Condition Assessments in accordance with the “ASTM Designation: E 2018 – 15 Standard Guide for Property Condition Assessments: Baseline Property Condition Assessment Process" is required.Familiarity with UniFormat and asset management software will be considered an asset.Experience with building construction or maintenance preferred.Knowledge of HVAC systems and building envelope assemblies preferred.Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code is required.Must be able to read technical specifications, drawings, and reports.Experience writing technical reports is preferred.Proficiency using AutoCAD is preferred.Ability to safely transport and carry 20-foot extension or folding ladder, hand tools and PPE is required.Availability to travel and must have a valid driver’s license, insurance & personal vehicle required (work related travel expenses will be compensated).What Pinchin Offers YouA challenging, rewarding leadership position with the opportunity to mentor junior technical professionals.Competitive compensation, benefits, and Extended group benefits (we pay the premium) with no waiting period.Membership in our internal Communities of Practice, a national support network for technical problem solving and collaboration led by our top technical experts.Casual dress code.Profit share bonuses and an RRSP Matching Program.Flexible workplace to support work life balance.Various professional development and employee recognition programs.Educational and professional membership dues reimbursement.Employee Referral Bonus Program.Corporate Discount Program.Check what Pinchin has to offer: Benefits (pinchin.com)What’s next?
