Lead Offshore Substation Engineer Position in Dublin

Do you have electrical engineering experience and are seeking a new job in Dublin? NES Fircroft is assisting a company in the renewable sector to find a full-time Lead Offshore Substation Engineer. This role offers a salary of $60k and excellent benefits.

As a Lead Offshore Substation Engineer, you will work as part of a team on the ongoing development of several offshore wind projects around the coast of Ireland and the UK. You will also have the opportunity to join a specific offshore wind project team when projects reach this stage in their development.

In your first few weeks in this Engineer role, you can expect to:

  1. Direct the development and management of the electrical offshore substation element on projects
  2. Tender, appoint, manage, and monitor EPC style contracts on behalf of the project
  3. Provide technical inputs on a range of feasibility concept design (Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study, planning consent submissions and provide technical solutions to issues, with limited oversight and advice project teams on technical matters at a strategic level
  4. Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, partners, and other key stakeholders to develop competitive cost estimates for auction submissions
  5. Identify the most commercially appropriate contracting strategy to deliver the project to industry standards, safely, and within budget
  6. Identify and manage risk within the projects and lead interactions with project interfaces and foster solution-based collaboration with other teams

  • A good understanding of tendering, tender evaluations, scoping, planning, design, costing, construction, and commissioning offshore substations associated with offshore wind projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large and complex contracts with knowledge of Engineering, Procurement, Contract & Install (EPCI), specifically for offshore
  • Understanding of the electrical requirements associated with the development of offshore wind projects that can be used to help clients and partners make informed strategic decisions
  • A professional manner with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels and deliver high-performance results
  • Good stakeholder management skills and a proven track record managing internal and external stakeholders and leading successful public consultations
