Job Description: Senior Power System Study Engineer

AtkinsRéalis has an exciting full-time career opportunity for an Electrical Engineer of 8+ years’ experience to build a career in Power Systems, Transmission and Distribution. The resource will report to our Toronto, ON (Canada) center of excellence. The candidate will work in a fast-paced consulting environment with excellent career growth opportunities.

Location: Toronto, ON. However, candidate can be based anywhere in Canada and open to remote working if we don't have an office in that city.

Your role within the team:

Define the scope and budget for power system studies mandates.

Perform/review following Power systems studies:

  1. Substation grounding & lightning studies.
  2. Substation Bus studies
  3. Electromagnetic Transient Studies
  4. AC interference on pipelines and railway infrastructure from power lines and substation ground grids
  5. Cable Sizing Studies.

Prepare detailed engineering drawings.

Must have excellent command over following Software tools: CDEGS, ETAP, WinIGS, CYMCAP, ASPEN OneLiner and PSCAD.

Planning, scheduling, and estimation and engineering coordination with other disciplines.

Attend design review and constructability meetings with customers and represent system studies discipline.

Mentor Junior resources in use of power system software modeling and conducting studies.

The ideal candidate:

Self-starter with 8+ years of experience in power system studies.

University Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.

Registered or eligible to register with any Canadian or US Professional Engineers Associations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of French is an asset.

SES Tech CDEGS Level II or III certification is an asset.

Working knowledge in AutoCAD, MicroStation, PSS/E, PowerFactory DigSILENT is an asset.

Hand on experience with soil resistivity, Ground impedance measurements, power quality measurements, is an asset
