ROLE
The Clinical Nurse Educator is the principle clinical resource point person for nursing staff across all MAHC sites to ensure competency within scopes of practice and adoption of best practice. This role activelyparticipatesin professional practice activities, clinical assessments, nursing orientation, preceptor and mentorship programming,and regional committees. Responsibilities of this role include;
Participate in development of a strategic plan for clinical education and nursing development.
Source training solutions, and where possible or preferable, design/deliver in-house training.
Principle clinical resource point person for nursing staff to help ensure competency within scopes of practice and adoption of best practice.
Champion for quality and patient safety for clinical practices.
Provideguidance to new hires,preceptorsand students .
Assistswith content, presentation and educationregardingclinical policies and procedures as directed.
Develop and ensure nursing clinical orientation aligns with current best practice, and skills needs based on feedback from stakeholders .
Deliver nursing clinical orientationon a monthly basis .
Co-Lead and have an active leadership role within the wound care program.
Provide leadership regarding the creation and implementation of a learning plan.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)
Registered Nurse with current College of Nurses of Ontario registration, without restrictions.
Certificate courses related to Adult Education.
Wound care certificate.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)
Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering clinical workshops and training programs, as well as coaching staff and conducting quality practice assessments.
Superior leadership and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal .
Excellent computer skills – working knowledge of Cerner and Microsoft Office Word & Excel and Learning Management software.
Keen interestin the process of adulteducation .
Evidence of a commitment to continuous learning.
Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, and to function in both leadership and collaborative roles.
Experience in development of staff education materials.
Significant clinical wound care experience .
DESIRED SKILLS , EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION
HSFO BLS Instructor and/or ACLS Instructor .
CNA Specialty Certification .
Current HSFO BLS and ACLS Provider .

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Location: Multi-Site, working at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville.
Department: Education
Hours of Work: Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
As a condition of employment , external hires are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety department.
