National Vendor Relations Manager – Mechanical/HVAC-R

Greater Vancouver, BC

Cameron Lappin of Lock Search Group has partnered with a national leader in mechanical sector who is continuing to grow. To ensure their extensive scaling goals are met they are motivated to reel in an experience industry professional to take on a National Vendor Relations Manager position to support and grow the robust product lines within their extensive national branch infrastructure. The ideal candidate must possess a deep understanding of HVAC-R mechanical systems and have a proven track record in sales leadership, or supply chain leadership within this sector. Technical and industry knowledge is essential, whether from the wholesale distribution side, or the manufacturer side. This role will cover a national footprint that is support by a global market of OEM players…so travel across Canada, and into the US will be a must;
with some expected travel aboard. Our client is anticipating 25-35% of strategic travel.

The National Vendor Relations Manager will be responsible for driving growth by developing new partnerships and strengthening relationships with existing partners at the office, regional, or national levels. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering the development and success of these partnerships. Working closely with the President, Vice Presidents, and Regional leaders, the incumbent will identify opportunities for growth and success. A critical aspect of this role is the ability to negotiate mutually beneficial partnerships.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships with new companies to drive mutual growth and success within the industry.
  • Review and negotiate contract agreements for both new and ongoing partnerships.
  • Capitalize on national accounts and purchasing power.
  • Foster continuous collaboration and improvement to meet predefined goals.
  • Develop, manage, review, and adjust strategic business plans with partners to consistently enhance market positioning.
  • Maintain and ensure the validity of regional and national line cards and contracts.
  • Identify market channels to target through partnerships and develop plans for execution.
  • Discover new markets to pursue through partnerships and create actionable plans for entry.
  • Stay informed on the current market, stakeholders, regulations, and trends, while anticipating future changes to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Manage existing partnerships by setting clear expectations, executing agreed business activities, and leveraging partnership strengths to increase market share.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline, with a strong technical background as an asset.
  • 8+ years of experience in sales/marketing management, procurement, or strategic partnership management.
  • Leadership experience within HVAC (manufacturing or distribution) is a must Exceptional communication skills, consistently delivering clear, honest, and open communication.
  • Proven negotiator, skilled in identifying the needs and benefits for both parties to achieve agreement.
  • Able to review, evaluate, and finalize various agreements such as partnership, lease, and buy/sell agreements.
  • Strong ability to build both personal and business relationships.
  • Significant travel across North America is required so you must have a valid driver’s license and passport
  • Must possess a customer-centric approach to business.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills.

Ability to work out of an office setting in the Lower Mainland of BC – this is not a remote/hybrid opportunity
