Job Description Summary

GE Vernova Grid Software develops critical software for control rooms of electrical grid operators. Those operators use GIS, ADMS, AEMS, AMMS, Analytics and DERMS software to ensure the real-time and look-ahead operation of both electricity transmission and distribution grids, as well as wholesale electricity markets. 40% of Transmission & 30% of Distribution utilities use GE software to transport and distribute electrical power in a safe, reliable manner and with the right quality of service to their end customers.

The Enterprise AI/ML Solution Architect will serve as a chief technologist to the GE team and our customers. Seeking a grid operations expert to help our teams develop, deploy and our customers adopt AI/ML solutions (proof of concepts, products and solutions). The role will pursue activities and processes that help the organization achieve business and requires specialized knowledge in grid operations using AEMS and ADMS solutions.


Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the domain technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction across the GridOS AI/ML product portfolio or product lines.
  • Analyze design and develop a roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.
  • Review and/or analyze and develop architectural requirements at domain level within product portfolio or team.
  • Contribute to the development of AI/ML software and MLOps platforms with reusable components that can be orchestrated together into different methods.
  • Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry, and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities.
  • Analyze industry and market technology trends to inform and drive the organization's AI/ML strategy and goals.
  • Engages with business stakeholders to innovate and improve business capabilities and to design enterprise technology solutions on a strong, resilient, digitally decoupled, and scalable architectural foundation.
  • Demonstrates strong technical expertise across multiple technology domains, including deep technical specialty in AI/ML and following areas: AEMS, ADMS, GIS, Mobile, Application Platforms, Software Engineering, Enterprise Integration, Systems Management, Endpoint Devices, Network, Security, Cloud.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of emerging trends in the technology landscape, including new technologies, processes, and ways of working.
  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end value chain of the organization, and ability to articulate the current grid landscape and how GridOS builds the foundational platform to orchestrate the grid of the future.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas and strategies effectively to non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.
  • Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in order to drive outcomes and create alignment around a vision or course of action.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the business context, market and operational functions of the operating company, and the wider utilities industry.
  • Ability to participate in co-operative working relationships including knowledge sharing and partnership in achieving solutions within and across business or operational functions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or 20 years industry experience.
  • A solid background and understanding of electrical power systems and utility operations is required.
  • A solid background and understanding of AEMS, ADMS and grid operation solutions.
  • Experience providing thought leadership to an organization.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50%.

Desired:

  • 20 years - Progressive experience in software engineering, technology design, and/or IT Architecture across multiple products, systems, and/or platforms.
  • Experience delivering in DevOps and MLOps environments, including experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and agile practices is preferred.

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $216,200USD - $324,300USD. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
