Job Description

Arcadis is seeking a Project Director to join our Mobility Global Business Area (GBA) in Canada. You will be responsible for managing the delivery of projects to meet time, quality, budgetary, and health and safety targets, ensuring that all aspects of the client relationship meet or exceed expectations. Take a leadership role with the project team, providing both direction and technical advice and leading by example where appropriate, while promoting both the regional and global culture of the business.

Role Accountabilities:
  1. Providing sound and effective leadership to the team, providing direction and technical advice, leading by example to achieve company goals and championing a quality culture.
  2. Communicating with team members to ensure that they understand and become engaged with the project strategy, brief, and client requirements.
  3. Developing and managing the Project Programme and obtaining the buy-in of all stakeholders.
  4. Ensuring that effective financial and project management controls are in place and deployed to enable monitoring, modification, and forecasting as appropriate.
  5. Continually looking to enhance productivity through improved processes, procedures, and systems.
  6. Maintaining an overview of the commercial aspects of the project (contract, invoicing, debt, client management).
  7. Communicating effectively with all stakeholders to ensure that all parties are kept informed on all relevant matters impacting and influencing projects.
  8. Managing the acquisition, deployment, and management of resources for the project to ensure optimal resource allocation.
  9. Directing the assessment, selection, and management of suppliers, sub-consultants, and contractors associated with projects.
  10. Driving project performance, service delivery, and technical and commercial outcomes and undertaking reviews, ensuring client delivery is above expectation.
  11. Ensuring that completed engineering and documentation work is reviewed for technical, Arcadis, and client compliance.
  12. Ensuring risks are proactively identified, assessed, and managed to avoid adverse impacts on the project.
  13. Working to ensure maximum client satisfaction, championing client care, and proactively working with the client.
  14. Reviewing the performance of team members and developing them to their full potential.
  15. Engaging in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s University Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  2. 15+ years of Project Management experience as well as 10+ years of Transportation Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. P.Eng. (Eligible for Membership with PEO) preferred.
  2. Experience with MTO.
  3. Postgraduate qualifications in business, finance, or project management related areas an advantage.
  4. Experience in leading design in a consultant organisation and working in a tendered design services environment.
  5. Sound commercial background, including familiarity with contractual conditions and procedures, including international conditions and the ability to take commercial responsibility for a project.
  6. Experienced in leading, and working with, people from varied backgrounds and cultures.
