Report To: Vice President of Finance | Service: Accounting

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Controller manages the accounting department, the staff dedicated to these activities and plays an advisory role to managers. The Controller ensures the financial management of the company. They also ensure that the rules and policies of the company are in accordance with accounting norms and regulations.

The Controller must work to mobilize their team, to value individuals and to ensure their development. They perform all other related tasks requested by their immediate superior, all in accordance with the internal procedures and rules.

TASKS RELATED TO THE FUNCTIONGeneral Accounting
  1. Responsible for the complete management of the accounting cycle and accounting tasks related to the preparation of the financial statement (end of the month activities, quarterly activities, annual activities etc.).
  2. Ensure compliance with ASPE norms.
  3. Assist/lead in the management of Year-end audit requirements.
  4. Reconcile balance sheets, taxes, and manage the hedging transaction.
  5. Review and ensure reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts are accurate. Produce reports and identify corrective actions or inherent risks.
  6. Manage payroll to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Budgeting & Planning
  1. Assist in the preparation of the annual Budgets & Forecasts.
  2. Act as primary lead in developing and monitoring departmental budgets.
Management of Employees
  1. Sets expectations and communicates them to employees.
  2. Conducts annual performance evaluations.
  3. Approves holidays and absences of employees that are directly under their supervision.
  4. Ensures the transmission and fluidity of communications within the team.
  5. Ensures the proper training and development of employees.
  6. Ensures the recruitment of employees under their responsibility.
Accounts Payable and Receivable Management
  1. Verify the applicable exchange rate as well as discounts if applicable.
  2. Ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner.
  3. Process foreign wire payments and EFT’s.
  4. Responsible for monthly reporting of AR & AP key metrics.

Academic Aspects And Experience
  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting with a recognized accounting certification.
  2. CPA accreditation is a must.
  3. At least 3 to 7 years total progressive experience.
  4. At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a similar managerial role.
  5. Be bilingual both verbally and in writing (French and English).
  6. Master the Office suite. (Advanced Excel required).
  7. Prior knowledge of SAP is an asset.
  8. Prior knowledge of BI tools (SAP Analytics Cloud, Power BI) is an asset.
