About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use): 10

The Team:

We are looking for a crude oil analyst to join S&P Global’s crude oil markets research team with a focus on North America (United States and Canada). The oil markets team focuses on analyzing and forecasting oil supply, demand, logistics and trade fundamentals. This team helps strategic planners, procurement specialists, business development managers and market analysts to build a detailed view of the sector and its players.

The Role:

North America remains the engine of global oil supply growth. We are seeking a specialist able to further develop insights, maintain and own models and databases, and support our customer base. You will be contributing to S&P Global’s coverage of global crude oil markets, with a focus on North America. This includes researching, gathering data and developing insights into current market trends, regulatory frameworks, risks and opportunities, and long-term outlooks for the sector. You will work closely with colleagues across the Crude Oil Markets team and other various Commodity Insights energy teams to bring clarity to the industry.

Responsibilities and Impact:

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who would like to join an international team of like-minded people, driven to deliver excellence. You are applying for a dynamic career path within a passionate and fast-paced environment. More specifically, responsibilities include:

  1. Support research and create analytical content related to the North American crude oil markets.
  2. Manage, and maintain models and large databases to inform long-term supply and demand, and pricing of North American crudes.
  3. Act as a subject matter expert for these markets, contributing to a wide range of S&P Global Commodity Insights publications.
  4. Develop and deliver presentations and thought leadership reports.
  5. Create charts, graphs, maps and other visual content that illustrates the trends customers need to follow.
  6. Engage with customers and potential customers as a subject matter expert.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  1. Three to five years market related experience. Experience in analysis and forecasting of North American crude markets (US & Canada) is a plus. Additional experience in other markets, e.g., energy, storage, refined products, etc. would be advantageous.
  2. Excellent communication skills which include a concise written style, excellent verbal and presentation skills, and the ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally.
  3. Experience in modeling, forecasting, quantitative analysis and managing large data sets.
  4. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  5. Innovative thinking and proactive behavior, able to work effectively and efficiently within a flexible global team environment.
