We are seeking a seasoned leader to oversee new build projects from inception to completion. This role acts as the bridge between design, procurement, and the shop floor, ensuring that every tool is built to specification, on time, and within budget. You will lead a high-performing team, manage external vendors, and drive continuous improvement within our manufacturing processes.Core ResponsibilitiesEnd-to-End Ownership: Lead the kickoff of new build projects, ensuring Bills of Materials (BOMs) are accurately introduced to the shop floor and work is delegated to meet strict delivery timelines.Material Management: Oversee the procurement of critical components (die shoes, parallels, tool steels, punches) and ensure all tryout materials are processed through the Material Management System.Design Collaboration: Partner with internal and external designers during Design Reviews to ensure manufacturability and quality.Outsource Coordination: Track all contracted machining, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.Cost Control: Manage quotes for all external work, ensuring all machining is quoted in advance and invoices are reconciled accurately against agreed-upon pricing.Mentorship: Lead and develop an effective team, specifically mentoring the Tool Room Supervisor and overseeing the Apprenticeship program.Human Resources Partnership: Collaborate with HR on recruitment, training, and performance management to build a robust talent pipeline.Communication: Facilitate monthly department meetings and provide comprehensive tool progress reports during weekly production meetings.Compliance & Process ImprovementSystem Innovation: Identify and implement new processes and systems to increase efficiency and R&D completion rates.Quality & Safety: Maintain strict adherence to TS 16949 Quality System Standards and all company safety, 5S, and housekeeping guidelines.Candidate RequirementsMinimum QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent.Technical Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience in new tool builds following the completion of a four-year apprenticeship.Project Management: 5–7 years of experience managing complex manufacturing projects.Compliance: Deep familiarity with TS 16949 or similar Quality System Standards.Preferred Skills & AssetsCertification: Formal qualification as a Tool & Die Maker.Management: 3+ years in a formal management role with a proven track record of mentoring Tool & Die Makers and apprentices.Technical Literacy: Proficiency in Design software and a strong understanding of Design Engineering principles.Work Environment & Physical DemandsCommitment to a safe and healthful work environment.Proactive reporting of unsafe conditions to Management or the Joint Health & Safety Committee.This is currently for an active job opportunity.
