Are you looking for an opportunity to…

  • Collaborate with project teams in the development of design solutions?
  • Work in a close-knit group that supports you in your further development?
  • Enhance your career working on a mix of local and global projects?

What makes us stand out?

Our tag line “Down to Earth / Up to the Challenge” says a lot about who we are. In broad terms, we think KCB’s primary differentiators are:

  • our global reputation for technical excellence
  • our appetite to tackle problems with unique complexities
  • our creative perspectives that come through diverse and inclusive teams
  • our size, large enough to win intriguing projects, small enough to know you by name

What you would engage in:

Our focus is on the application of critical thinking to the management of mine waste and water. If continuing your career journey with us, you would be part of our Mining Environmental Group, based out of our Vancouver office. The role of Intermediate Civil Designer comes with the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule and will provide you with the opportunity to:

  • Analyze, review and interpret topographic survey data
  • Develop 2D and 3D models for new and existing mine waste projects
  • Be involved in all aspects of multi-disciplinary design, analysis, and drafting of large civil earth works projects
  • Produce drawings, layouts, sketches, maps and graphic representations of engineering designs
  • Transform concepts and sketches into engineering designs primarily using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control measures are achieved.
  • Expand your knowledge by attending trainings and conferences

What we require:

We respect the knowledge and experience you have gained to date and are willing to help you build on it. We do however require the following qualifications:

  • A diploma in civil technology or degree in civil engineering
  • Proficiency in 2D drafting and 3D design using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Exposure to, or ability to work with, other geospatial software (ArcGIS, Global Mapper, ReCap, OpenGround, Muk3D)
  • Exposure to the design of large civil earthworks projects
  • An ability to build relationships with multidisciplinary project-based teams

In addition to the must-have requirements you will excel in the role if you have a willingness to learn and a curiosity mindset.

The salary for this position is $68,000 to $88,000 per year. Salary is based on applicable experience, education, and skill level.

Along with continued career development, KCB offers:

  • Hybrid work opportunities
  • Annual performance and salary review
  • Vacation policy that aligns to your experience
  • Paid OT, and sick days
  • Flexible benefits, including RRSP, social, and mental well-being initiatives
  • Dedication to World Economic Forum’s “Four Pillars” of Environment Social Governance framework, Governance, People, Planet and Prosperity

We strive to be a workplace where our employees, clients, and the communities in the regions we operate, feel valued and are treated equitably. We respect the uniqueness that makes you, you. We encourage applications from all qualified career seekers, regardless of gender, sex, religion, or nationality.
