What is the Opportunity?
In partnership with GE Hitachi and SNC-Lavalin, Aecon has executed a six-year alliance agreement with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to deliver North America’s first grid-scale Small Modular Reactor (SMR) through the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington, Ontario. The work will be carried out under an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model. Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Cost Controller will be responsible for providing cost control support to ongoing projects and supporting the company’s estimating and construction teams to ensure that the company’s project control system is properly implemented and utilized.
What is the Opportunity?
- Provide support to project team for project control activities as required, including estimating, proposal, cost systems (including project setup in SAP and P6), change management, schedule review, project reporting, and related processes.
- Develop and maintain a change log to track all internal & external changes and monitor progress through the change management process.
- Single Point of Contact for all project changes.
- Coordinate with the planning/scheduling and cost team when preparing the Project Baseline Change Requests (PBCR).
- Learn and operate within project specific contract conditions.
- Participate in customer and internal management project status reporting meetings, as required.
- Aid cost control and project accounting groups as required.
- Other assignments as required by the direct line manager.
- Develop reporting documentation as required for internal Joint Venture communications.
- Interface between the project controls team and the engineering/construction team.
- Coordinate and implement project communications initiatives as identified by the project team.
- Active involvement in all engineering, procurement, quality, and construction matters for greater understanding of the project status.
What You Bring to the Table:
- 1-3 years of related experience is preferred.
- College and/or University degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of SharePoint applications an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
- Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work site environment.
- Interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
- Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge.
- OPG Clearance.
- Due to the nature of work conducted by DNNP, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.
