The Planner/Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining project schedules using project management software. This includes collaborating with teams to identify and mitigate schedule risks, monitoring project progress, and communicating deviations to stakeholders. The Planner/Scheduler routinely generates reports and conducts analysis related to scheduling and liaises with teams, assessing impact on schedules, and implementing adjustments.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using project management software.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to understand project scope, objectives, and constraints.
- Identify critical path activities and potential bottlenecks in the project schedule.
- Work with project teams to develop strategies for mitigating schedule risks.
- Regularly monitor project progress against the established schedule.
- Provide timely updates to project teams and stakeholders on any deviations from the planned timeline.
- Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, Supply Chain and Management to gather information and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Foster effective communication to address scheduling conflicts and resolve issues promptly.
- Assess the impact of changes to the project scope on the schedule.
- Implement adjustments to the schedule and communicate changes to relevant parties.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project schedules, including any revisions or modifications.
- Generate reports and analysis related to project scheduling.
- Identify potential risks that may impact project schedules.
- Attend meetings, draft minutes, update agenda(s) as required.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary education related to role (e.g., degree, diploma, certification – PMI-SP, CPIM, CAPM)
- 1-3 years project planning and scheduling experience in the construction or manufacturing sector.
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management software tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, take initiative, and work both effectively in a team environment and efficiently in a sole incumbent position in a demanding environment.
- Excellent problem solving, organizational communication and time management skills.
