Our client is seeking a Pediatric Neurologist to join their team. Our client offers the full continuum of health and community services including public health, long-term care, community services, hospital care and unique provincial programs and services. Our client provides the only tertiary level of care for children with neurological

disorders in Newfoundland and Labrador. They are a 71 bed, tertiary care referral

hospital for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. In addition they are a teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador (MUNL) and have a residency program in Pediatrics.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in medical student and resident teaching. The neurology department has a busy outpatient department and is in conjunction with the rehabilitation department neuromuscular and cerebral palsy clinics. The department has EEG inpatient and outpatient facilities, nursing and secretarial support.

Job Summary:

  • Clinical and teaching duties related to neurology, clinical research and shared duties with the other Pediatric Neurologist.
  • Through strong formal affiliations with Memorial University, and on the recommendation of the Discipline Chair, the successful candidate may be eligible for a clinical faculty appointment in the Academic Department of Pediatrics and may be expected to participate in collaborative research activities and scholarship (ie:
    teaching).

Hours of Work:
80 hours biweekly plus on-call obligations.

Remuneration:
The Specialist Salary Scale ranges from $263,672.00 to $285,596.00 per annum as outlined in the current Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines will officially determine a Physician’s step assignment with yearly progression thereafter.

Incentives:

  • Signing Bonus of $100,000 available in exchange for a return-in-service (RIS) of 5 years, plus $25,000 if the position is considered “difficult to fill”.
  • Come Home Incentive -Physicians with ties to Newfoundland and Labrador can receive $100,000 for a five-year return in service. This incentive is also available for physicians with no ties to NL at $50,000 for a five year return-in-service agreement. (able to see served concurrently with other incentive RIS agreements.
  • An annual Retention Bonus is offered in accordance with the current MOA.
  • Relocation – $20,000 for transportation of furniture & household effects, $25,000 for costs associated with sale/purchase of principal residence, $3,000 to cover shipment of the vehicle(s);
    plus costs associated with movement of yourself and your dependents which includes transportation, accommodations, meals and temporary living expenses.

Requirements and Education:

  • Must have certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatrics and Pediatric Neurology (or equivalent)
  • Must be eligible for licensure with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Eligible for membership of the medical staff of NL Health Services;
  • Demonstrates commitment to patient-focused care and evidence-based practice
  • Satisfy credentialing requirements of Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
