POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the controller, the chief accountant will supervise a team of accountants. Among his main functions, the chief accountant will ensure the accuracy of financial reports and their timely delivery. In addition, the Chief Accountant will serve as a liaison with the Regional Managers to maintain effective communication between accounting and operations. The incumbent must be organized with proven ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and prioritize workloads. He will analyze several files simultaneously while respecting tight deadlines. The person will be responsible for the reliability and accuracy of all accounting information for each of the properties under his management.

ROLE AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assign, follow, and supervise the accounting team in all bookkeeping or general accounting activities.
  • Collect the financial information necessary for sound management.
  • Coordinate the month-end process to ensure monthly deadlines are met.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls to maintain a high level of reliability and compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Maintain excellent business relationships with stakeholders.
  • Review, analyze, and approve the monthly financial statements of the shopping centers under its management.
  • Support team members and work with all other departments.
  • Take charge of the recruitment of accountants for his team.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years in accounting (experience in personnel supervision is an asset).
  • Bilingual (French/English).
  • Knowledge of Hopem software (an asset).
  • Advanced knowledge in Excel.
