Job Summary:

The Associate Director of Approaches to Community Wellbeing will provide leadership to ensure program objectives are met through overall planning, development, implementation, effective service delivery, collaboration, and through evaluation of program activities. This position will support the management of staff and consultants.

The Associate Director of Approaches to Community Wellbeing is directly accountable to the Director of Approaches to Community Wellbeing.

Qualifications:

  • Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health related field, with a specialization in Public Health or Health Administration; comparable work experience will be considered at the discretion of the employer
  • 3 years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution
  • Certification in project management is desired
  • 3 years experience managing staff, relevant certification is desired
  • Valid Ontario G drivers licence
  • Ability to perform the requirements of the role on a regular basis

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Support the implementation of the Approaches to Community Wellbeing.
  2. Work closely with the Director and Public Health Physician to provide Community Wellbeing services to the 31 communities.
  3. In collaboration with the Director, provide oversight and direction to employees and consultants of the Approaches to Community Wellbeing in accordance with program objectives, job and productivity expectations, and organizational policies and procedures.
  4. Monitor overall operational, budgetary, financial responsibilities, and activities.
  5. At the direction of the Director, liaise with leadership, frontline workers, health care providers, and other service workers in communities to collaboratively strategize means to tackle priority issues related to public health/community wellbeing.
  6. Sit on any relevant Community Wellbeing working groups or advisory committees.
  7. Coach, advise, and appraise employee job results.
  8. Manage the preparation, maintenance, and submission of correspondence, program reports, and briefing notes at the direction of the Director.
  9. Work with the Director and Managers to plan, develop, and implement systems that perform the work and fulfill the goals of the program efficiently and effectively.
  10. Work with Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees to enhance the Approaches to Community Wellbeing.
  11. Support and advise on program development and promotion.
  12. With the Director, facilitate delivery of services to support communities in their capacity development to address priority issues.
  13. Participate and direct delivery of training and educational activities for all communities.
  14. Provide assistance when required and any other duties assigned.
