Train users. Provide detailed documentation.Support the critical production systems in a timely fashion to maximize operating efficiencies with minimal interruption.Off-hours, on-call response to high-priority issues is expected. Occasional after hours commissioning of new code or systems is required.What you bring to the tableJob QualificationsBachelor’s degree or community college diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.Minimum 5+ years of experience with programming PLCs is required. Manufacturing industry experience is preferred.The job is primarily focussed on programming and troubleshooting Level 1 control systems. The core technologies used in this role are ControlLogix PLCs and PowerFlex drives, SAF PLCs and drives. Experience using the core technologies or willingness to learn them will be favoured.Experience with communication protocols (e.g. Remote I/O, OPC) is necessary.Experience programming HMIs is necessary.The ability to comprehend and update AutoCAD electrical drawings and schematics are necessary skills.Job Skills and KnowledgeGeneral knowledge of drives and motors.General knowledge of relays, sensors, and data acquisition devices.Familiarity with Siemens software/hardware is desired, or willingness to learn.Knowledge of AGC (automatic gauge control) would be an asset.Analytical and problem-solving capabilities are required.Strong verbal communication, written communication, and listening skills.Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.Your work environmentIncludes work in both office and mill environments with a high impact teamIn accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Stelco is an equal opportunity employer who is committed to providing an inclusive and barrier free recruitment and selection process.
