How will this role have an impact?

The Enterprise Architect is accountable for the business solution designs for key strategic initiatives including (but not limited to) developing architectures that represent business, applications, data, infrastructure, and platform architectures.

The role will report to the Director of Architecture

What will you do?

  • The Enterprise Architect is accountable for the business solution designs for key strategic initiatives including (but not limited to) developing architectures that represent business, applications/integration, data, infrastructure, platform, and security architectures
  • In this role you will act as the chief SME architect for key strategic initiative(s) significant enterprise experience in architecture and hands-on delivery of solutions to achieve business outcomes
  • This includes having the strong ability to look around the corner at emerging technologies and advise senior leadership around the strategic technical vision
  • Buy vs Build Analysis: In depth experience in performing Buy vs Build analysis based on the qualitative and quantitative analysis across the available options to provide a final recommendation based on the rationale
  • Architecture and design reviews: Play a key leadership role in architecture design reviews and identify gaps and recommend design changes
  • Actively lead and participate in the Architecture community to drive modernization opportunities for the advancement of technology while keeping in mind the complexities of our IT landscape
  • Develop reference architecture and implementation: Providing leadership, coaching and guidance to engineering teams in regards to reference architectures for applications and infrastructure within IT
  • Proof of concept technology support: Lead and drive proofs-of-concept and technology deep-dives specific to partner technologies
  • Get hands-on and actively assist development teams by advising and resolving technical roadblocks in the solution
  • Cost optimization identification: Engage with appropriate stakeholders to recommend or assess opportunities to drive cost efficiencies aimed at simplicity, configurability and eventual elimination of technical debt associated with IT applications
  • Develop and enforce Architecture standards across multiple IT disciplines (e.g., application engineering, data engineering, devops)

We are looking for someone with:

  • 10+ years in design/development experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on cloud implementation experience
  • SME level understanding of cloud design and architecture for one or more public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, preferably Azure) to deliver large-scale distributed solutions across the full enterprise stack
  • SME level technical skills in the following areas: application and integration architecture, security and automation along with a working knowledge of IT operations
  • SME level understanding of APIs and microservices-based architecture is a must
  • Domain Driven Design: Be able to map the domain scope to Bounded Contexts /Microservices
  • Experience working with technologies that work as glue between modern applications and legacy infrastructure leveraging streaming platforms like Apache Kafka
  • Ability to collaborate with Network Operations, Cloud Operations, Data Engineering, Application Engineering, and Security to deliver solutions
  • Experience in enterprise development tools and methodologies (XP, Agile) including DevOps
  • Hands-on technologists with coding skills and proficient in modern technology stacks (Cloud, DevOps, Kafka etc.)
  • Understanding of both SQL and NoSQL database technologies as well as Cloud database technologies
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience is a must
  • Facilitates adoption of cloud-native/cloud-first architectures
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience is preferred.
