Voyago is currently recruiting for a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to be based in our Kitchener location.

Your Role:

Working in a rapidly growing, fast-paced environment, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will report directly to the Vice President Human Resources and will perform a key role in aligning business objectives with employee and management needs through close working relationships with management and all employee groups. This position will require travel within Ontario. This is an on-site role and not remote. You must be prepared to work from the Kitchener office location. Hybrid may be considered after 3 months of successful employment.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partner:

  1. You will partner with the business to assess short and long-term business needs of the business units and provide strategic HR direction to meet their operational business requirements.
  2. You will support leaders with their management of front-line drivers and other employee groups.
  3. You will consult with business stakeholders on an ongoing basis to determine evolving human resource requirements and assist with the development and implementation of responsive, effective and value-added human resource strategies.
  4. You provide input on business restructuring, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  5. You provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, corrective actions).
  6. You will use judgment supported by HR acumen and practical experience to escalate matters as required.
  7. You will provide leadership, guidance, and development to an HR Generalist who will assist you in support of your internal clients.

Employee Relations:

  1. Work closely with all Leaders on performance management, investigations, corrective action, training & development, and supporting a strong employee experience.
  2. Provide guidance and support in a unionized environment including CBA interpretation, knowledge and experience with grievances & arbitrations, and collective bargaining.
  3. Provide advice on human resource policies, procedures, and documentation; research, identify, and analyze specific employee relations concerns and make appropriate recommendations to the business partner.
  4. Provide expertise on HR best practices to guide business stakeholders on matters such as performance management, human rights, employment standards, and other labor legislation.
  5. Explore and determine innovative and creative approaches to resolving employee issues.
  6. Provide positive reinforcement and administer corrective action for the professional development of poor performers by closely monitoring employee performance.
  7. Facilitate communication and conflict resolution including conducting internal employee investigations.

Compliance:

  1. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of current legislation relating to employment law, WSIB, Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code to ensure regulatory compliance.
  2. Provide support and consultation to the teams around applicable laws, ensuring that Voyago remains legally compliant in its people practices.

Employee Experience:

  1. Foster and build relationships with key operational leaders by implementing a clear understanding of employee experience programs and initiatives.
  2. Support Employee experience initiatives under the direction of the Employee Experience Manager along with other projects and day-to-day support.

Your Profile

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications that include, but are not limited to:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. 3+ years of experience in a Human Resources Business Partner role, ideally in a related industry.
  3. CHRP certification is preferred.
  4. A clean Criminal Record Search.
  5. A full G Ontario driver's license and a clean driver's abstract.
  6. Strategic thinking with a strong professional presence, and strong planning and organization skills.
  7. The ability to interact with all levels of the organization with consultative, partnering, facilitating, and influencing/negotiating skills.
  8. Commitment to strong integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
  9. High motivation and self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  10. Complete proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other common applications.
  11. In-depth knowledge of current legislations relating to employment standards to the capacity of providing counsel including but not exclusive of: Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workers' Compensation Act, Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, etc.
  12. Ability to travel to other facilities on a regular basis.
  13. Commitment to an on-site role.
  14. Legally entitled to work in Canada.
