System Engineer

Our client, a leading company in the development and manufacturing of cutting-edge ultrasonic technologies for industrial purposes, is currently in search of a System Engineer.

This role involves overseeing the technical coordination, integration, and management of all sub-systems within upcoming NDT product development.


Mandatory: Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, or Computer engineering and Canadian Experience.

(Resumes lacking sufficient Canadian experience will not be selected for pre-screening.)


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the system architecture for new non-destructive testing products, defining system architecture, subsystem interfaces, and integration strategies.
  2. Drive the design and development of electronic systems and components, offering technical guidance and expertise to ensure adherence to performance, reliability, and quality standards.
  3. Manage technical product requirements and specifications, ensuring alignment with customer needs and industry standards.
  4. Conduct risk analysis and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) for the product, identifying potential failure modes, assessing their impact, and implementing mitigation strategies.
  5. Develop and execute test plans and procedures to validate system functionality, performance, and reliability throughout the product development lifecycle.
  6. Develop and maintain system-level documentation, including architecture diagrams, interface control documents, and technical specifications.
  7. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, such as hardware, software, and firmware engineers, to ensure smooth integration of sub-systems and components.
  8. Lead regular design reviews and technical meetings to monitor progress, identify issues, and resolve technical challenges.
  9. Mentor and coach junior engineers, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated expertise (3 years) in Systems Architecture/Systems Engineering.
  2. Proven track record (5 years) in designing, developing, and testing high-speed digital and analog circuits.
  3. Proficient in system architecture design, encompassing hardware, software, and firmware integration.
  4. Skilled in risk analysis methodologies, such as FMEA, with practical application in product development.
  5. Experience in firmware development using C/C++ within embedded environments.
  6. Familiarity with prevalent electronic communication standards: USB, I2C, SPI, UART, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485.
  7. Knowledge of Linux is advantageous.
  8. Strong project management acumen, including task prioritization, resource allocation, and effective management of schedules and budgets.
  9. Excellent communication skills, adept at articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and facilitating constructive discussions.
  10. Demonstrated leadership qualities, characterized by a proactive and results-driven approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
