For the Steering Systems technology area, we are now actively seeking applicants for the role of Chief Engineer - HMI & New Functionality. Working within the overarching technical guidance of the System Architecture Leads, and in collaboration with the other Product Development Chief Engineers, the selected candidate is responsible as the technical authority for the Steering Systems Product Development execution to secure the right “Technology Readiness Level” timed to new product introduction.

You will work as a direct member of the relevant Tollgate Review Boards and Cross Functional Teams governing central and divisional project execution. The responsibility includes technical oversight of divisional product launch including management control of standards guiding the product engineering disciplines.

You will work in collaboration with the RD&E Strategy & Process/Methods/Tools team, improving engineering efficiency through the definition, development, and deployment of RD&E best practices.

Job Qualifications:
  1. Master of Science in Engineering (preferred)
  2. Significant working experience in the following:
    1. Automotive Product Design Development
    2. Steering Wheel and Driver Airbag Safety Restraints (preferred)
    3. Mechatronic Systems Integration – Interiors
    4. Mechanical Structures
    5. Sensing and Embedded Electronics
    6. Material Science
    7. Relevant Manufacturing Technologies
    8. Industry Best Practices (FUSA, ASPICE, Cybersecurity – DfM, DfA, DtC)
    9. Technical Leadership in a dynamic multinational business
    10. Direct Management – Performance and Talent Development
    11. Excellent Communications Skills (Written and Oral)
    12. Customer and Supplier technical support
  3. Fluency in English (required), additional language skills are considered beneficial (German, French, Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin))
