We are looking for a Director, Software Engineering to be located at our Waterloo R&D office. The position will have the overall responsibility to lead the site by coaching, mentoring, motivating, and engaging the Waterloo development organization. The successful candidate will clearly and regularly communicate both the Agfa HealthCare vision and the R&D vision to ensure that the site is aligned and moving in the right direction to meet deliverables.


Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  1. The leader will support and champion the team, focusing on the development of the team along with their career growth objectives.
  2. Lead the team to deliver the product we commit to, with quality, on time, and more efficiently.
  3. Departmental Strategy and People Management - lead a team of experienced people managers in order to deliver on business results.
  4. Bring the team closer to the customer. React in a timely manner to customer complaints and defects to increase customer satisfaction.
  5. Stakeholder Communication: Act as site-specific engineering liaison for technical business issues.
  6. Resource Allocation: allocate resources effectively including people, budget, and technology infrastructure.
  7. Quality Assurance; ensure that software products meet the quality standards and customer requirements by implementing QA processes and code reviews.
Skills Required:
  • Broad understanding of the healthcare industry.
  • Superior communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and project management experience.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks that may impact project delivery.
  • Setting Strategy and Roadmap - teams must deliver to the roadmap.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Full stack development of large-scale enterprise applications, Java, Cloud & Cloud Native development expertise, healthcare industry experience.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent with 5-10 years of relevant experience.
