Job Responsibility:

PURPOSE and SCOPE: As a member of the Senior Executive Group for MacDon, this position is responsible for directing the accounting, finance, and tax functions for the MacDon group of Companies while ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (IFRS) for all reporting initiatives.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and administer financial plans for MacDon, including profit planning, sales forecasts, expense budgets, cost standards, saving opportunities, and capital expenditures.
  • Provide timely and relevant financial data to support management in understanding the financial performance of the company.
  • Propose and monitor expenditure authorization levels.
  • Oversee the preparation of budgets, financial statements, and analysis of operations.
  • Direct the preparation of government and tax filings.
  • Prepare all accounting ledgers and organizational reports, ensuring accurate classification of expenditures.
  • Review monthly journal entries, financial statements, cash flow projections, and customer accounting files.
  • Monitor and ensure appropriate cash flow within the MacDon group.
  • Ensure adequate internal controls are in place and compliant with corporate governance policies.
  • Oversee all monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, including audits.
  • Advise management regarding insurance coverage and assist in the negotiation process.
  • Manage and direct Accounting & Finance staff and lead HR functions.
  • Authorize and approve all departmental budgets and expenditures.
  • Define and recommend departmental objectives and develop supporting budget requests.
  • Implement applicable department policies and procedures to maintain productivity levels.
  • Participate in Linamar Global Financial Strategic Initiatives and FET activities.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health & safety, and quality assurance policies.
  • Perform other Director duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate would have:

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum university degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, or a related program.
  • Professional Accounting CPA designation required.
  • Minimum ten years of post-designation accounting experience at the managerial or director equivalent level.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and experience in agricultural business are assets.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced computer skills and experience with accounting software.
  • Exceptional organizational, motivational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Oracle JD Edwards software is a benefit.
