Position Summary

The Peri-Operative certified RNFA will possess the theoretical knowledge and technical skills required to work in the peri-operative setting. The Operating Room program is dedicated to providing safe client care utilizing an effective and efficient team approach.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
• OR Course Certification Mandatory
• Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) education program Mandatory
• Current B.C.L.S. Certificate required
• Current A.C.L.S. Certificate mandatory
• Current Certification for IV Therapy, X Ray & Laser required,
• Recent Operating Room nursing experience (within last 2 years) is Mandatory.
• Must be able to rotate through all services.
• Advanced training in Operating Room nursing through an approved program or equivalent required.
• Experience working with Electronic Medical Records as well as Surginet preferred.
• Knowledge, judgement and advanced technical skills required to function effectively and safely
• Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to unpredictable caseload/fast paced environment is required
• Must be able to assume a leadership role as a member of the Operating Room Team
• Ability to participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team is required
• Ability to form good working relationships with all members of the healthcare team.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills
• Must have excellent organizational and communication (oral and written) skills
• Knowledge of relevant hospital community resources is required
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position is required
• Good attendance and work record required
• Basic computer knowledge is required
• Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
• Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
• Must function within the competencies, professional and clinical standards for Perioperative Nursing Practice.
• Ability to make intelligent, independent decisions and initiate appropriate action based on patient-focused best practice guidelines.
• Demonstrate ability to utilize the Nursing Process while performing detailed and highly technical procedures.
• The successful candidate will have a proven commitment to professional development as well as to the Mission and Vision of the Hospital. Demonstrates proficiency in written and verbal communication skills in relation to working with patients across the care continuum.
