Overview: Pretium is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Director to lead the end-to-end pre-construction planning and execution of large-scale design-build projects. This pivotal role requires strategic oversight, operational management, and strong leadership to ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and budgetary goals. The Project Director will report to Pretium's executive leadership and serve as a key liaison with clients, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities are, but not limited to:
1. Strategic Planning and Leadership
- Define project goals, timelines, budgets, and deliverables in collaboration with executive leadership and stakeholders.
- Establish reporting frameworks and communication protocols.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams, ensuring alignment and effective collaboration.
- Work closely with site management and staff to achieve project objectives.
2. Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary liaison between clients, regulatory bodies, and community representatives.
- Provide regular progress updates, financial reporting, and compliance insights.
3. Financial Management
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and identifying opportunities for savings.
- Oversee monthly progress billing and ensure accurate, timely execution.
- Negotiate, review, and execute subcontracts alongside project managers.
4. Design Oversight
- Ensure compliance with RFP requirements, safety, accessibility, and functionality standards.
- Collaborate with design and construction teams to resolve challenges proactively.
5. Quality Assurance and Quality Control
- Maintain rigorous QA/QC benchmarks through regular audits and inspections.
- Address non-conformances swiftly and effectively.
6. Construction Management
- Oversee construction schedules, contractor performance, and on-site safety regulations.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
7. Reporting to Third-Party Project Managers
- Deliver detailed project reports, addressing risks, changes, and resolutions.
- Ensure transparency and alignment with client and stakeholder expectations.
8. Team Development and Leadership
- Mentor and guide project managers and key team members.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative culture that drives results.
9. Risk and Issue Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with provincial, federal, and client-specific regulations.
10. Project Handover and Closure
- Oversee the transition from construction to operational readiness, including inspections, training, and final acceptance.
- Ensure the creation and transfer of Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
- Manage project insurance, rental returns, and utility documentation.
About the Role: As a Project Director at Pretium, you will engage in preconstruction preparation, manage budgets, oversee subcontracting processes, and maintain clear and open communication with clients and internal teams. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring all project deliverables are met with integrity, precision, and a client-first approach.
Qualifications / Experience:
- 5-10 years of direct construction project management experience in the ICI buildings sector.
- Technical Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Expertise in construction methods and contract types such as CCDC5B, CCDC2, CCDC5, and CCDC30.
- Strong skills in stakeholder management, commercial terms, and risk mitigation.
- Proven ability to lead complex and fast-paced projects.
- Ability to train and mentor project staff.
