The Development Engineer role will include design and development of new ski products. The products should be high quality, durable, marketable, efficient to produce, and cost-effective. The Development Engineer works closely with the Product Director, Product Line Manager, and other colleagues to meet market and financial needs. This position is responsible for new product planning, prototyping, creating product designs, engineering documentation, and collaborating with vendors and suppliers for product commercialization.
Responsibilities- Work with Product Director and Product Line Manager to develop technologies and products that meet market needs and financial goals.
- Utilize Excel, CAD, and other tools to develop unique designs tailored to K2 customer needs.
- Manage all product-related approvals, including product testing.
- Ensure timely delivery of products as per the timeline.
- Create and update specification sheets outlining product construction.
- Define factory specifications and collaborate with factories to ensure quality and durability.
- Submit engineering change notices for construction-related modifications at factories.
- Travel to trade shows, on-snow tests, and manufacturing facilities in China.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree.
- 0-5 years of experience in product development.
- Proficiency in CAD tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Self-motivated with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel internationally for a minimum of 4 trips per year, 10-14 days each.
- Passion for skiing and the outdoors.
- Strong skiing skills with the ability to discern performance differences between skis.
- Knowledge of composites and composites manufacturing is preferable.
- Prototype fabrication abilities are preferred.
- Programming knowledge, particularly Python, is a plus.
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to enter data for prolonged periods.
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for long durations.
- Ability to speak and hear.
- May need to occasionally lift 15-50 pounds.
- No physical sensitivities to epoxy resins.
