Job Synopsis

The MCC Thrift Marketing Associate  is someone with a passion for social media and content creation. Working with the Marketing Coordinator, they will create social media content and execute and evaluate marketing campaigns for the MCC Thrift network in Canada and the U.S. They will produce creative written and multimedia content to engage new and existing audiences with the work and mission of MCC Thrift. This will include creating social media content for MCC Thrift on various social platforms as well as content for newsletters, print and digital ads, marketing emails, resources and reports. They will help make decisions in planning and execution based on data. The MCC Thrift Marketing Associate will also produce other forms of content as necessary such as videos, audio recordings, photos and design.

Employment eligibility: This position is available on a salaried basis. Only those candidates who are legally eligible to work in Canada should apply.

Essential:

  • Post-secondary degree in marketing or communications
  • 1-2 years practical work experience in marketing or communications
  • Understanding of social media content creation and social media advertising best practices for various social media platforms
  • Ability to develop, execute, manage and evaluate digital and traditional marketing campaigns
  • Knowledge of Google Search Network, Google Display Network and SEO best practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic graphic design skills
  • Understanding and support of the vision, purpose, beliefs and values of MCC, the biblical call to respond to human need and the Anabaptist commitment to peace and justice.
  • Successful police record check

Preferred:
  • Audiovisual skills (such as photography or videography) are an asset
  • Knowledge of secondhand market, retail trends and merchandising are assets
  • Good understanding of the Mennonite constituency and the relief and development field are assets
  • Valid driver’s license

Key Responsibilties

Major Responsibilities:

  • Content creation and editing – 65%
  • Marketing planning and evaluation – 20%
  • Administrative and meetings – 15%
  • Ensure that the gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, spending time in devotions and prayer with all in attendance in local MCC setting
  • Model nonviolent peacemaking through daily interactions with staff and the public
  • Participate in a local church and gatherings, being willing to use their gifts within the local faith community

Duties
  • Develop creative and engaging social media content for MCC Thrift’s national Facebook and Instagram accounts and other social platforms as determined with the Marketing Coordinator and MCC’s Social Media Coordinator
  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns, including paid campaigns on Meta and Google Ads, for new and existing supporters of MCC Thrift, setting measurable goals and monitoring success.
  • Work with a team of other MCC content creators and creatives to develop marketing content for new and existing thrift audiences, including younger audiences. This content will include social media content, newsletters, print and digital ads, marketing emails, resources and reports.
  • Work with national and provincial/regional staff to write and produce monthly thrift newsletter
  • Research and develop new marketing campaign ideas to reach new and existing thrift customers and donors
  • Basic design, photography and audiovisual work
  • Support the MCC Thrift network by creating and evaluating communications and marketing materials
  • Proofread content produced by MCC Canada’s CDR department and other departments as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Contact/Relationships:
The MCC Thrift Marketing Associate is an essential part of the MCC Thrift network teams in Canada and the U.S. as well as the MCC Canada Development, Marketing and Communications (DMC) team. They will work closely with members of all thrift teams at the national and provincial/regional levels as these teams will be integral in helping the person in this role plan and execute marketing campaigns. Because of the complex relationship between MCC Thrift and MCC, this role will require strong relational and communication skills, ability to build trust and clear planning and follow through. This role also requires skills in consensus building as it relates to gaining support for implementing new ideas and marketing strategies.

Supervision:
This role does not supervise others.

MCC Canada (MCCC) has a Group Benefit plan which is paid by MCCC, it includes; Supplemental Medical/Dental/Vision, The Long Term Disability (LTD), Employee Life Insurance, AD&D, global medical assistance, RRSP contribution match, Employee Accidental Death, Dismemberment and Specific Loss, and Dependent Life Insurance.
