Job Overview and key duties (agile)

  • Responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and reliability of buildings, utilities, equipment, and support systems by developing and implementing a robust Division-wide preventative maintenance program.
  • Conduct routine inspections of machines and infrastructure across the Division to identify potential problems or areas of improvement before disruptions occur.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand location-specific machine and infrastructure requirements, and needs, and address any concerns or issues.
  • Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and implement corrective actions to minimize production disruptions based on root cause analysis findings.
  • Monitor and optimize energy consumption within all manufacturing locations across the Division, identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements, implement energy-saving initiatives, and track energy usage to reduce cost and environmental impact.
  • Analyze machine performance data across the Division such as downtime records, maintenance logs, and production reports to identify trends and patterns to help in making data-driven decisions for process improvements and optimizing machine reliability.
  • Develop and maintain a Division Machine Matrix that includes information about all machines used in the manufacturing process including details such as machine type, model serial number, installation date, maintenance history, and any other relevant information.
  • Establish and manage a spare parts program that involves identifying critical spare parts required for the machines and collaborating with equipment suppliers and vendors to ensure their availability and timely delivery as needed.
  • Analyze Division data related to building and equipment performance, maintenance activities, energy consumption, and capacity utilization to provide management insights, highlighting areas for improvement, cost-saving opportunities, and potential risks.
  • Work closely with facility managers, maintenance teams, and external vendors or contractors to coordinate maintenance activities, address infrastructure-related issues, and ensure effective communication throughout the Division.
  • Provide training and educate machine operators, maintenance personnel, and others on proper machine operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards for the infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to safeguard the well-being of staff and visitors.
  • Provide regular, consistent, and transparent communication and interaction with the divisional leadership team about engineering activities, potential threats, opportunities, and recommended actions.

Additional information (including specialized qualifications/skills – please list)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering, or proven work experience.
  • Strong technical background in mechanical engineering or a related field, with a focus on infrastructure and facilities management.
  • Extensive experience in plastics injection manufacturing, preferably supporting multiple sites.
  • Able to successfully lead and implement change, structure, and process and take a common-sense approach to encourage continual cultural, technological, and operational transformation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing best practices and industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • The ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work closely with suppliers and vendors to produce spare parts and maintain an inventory to minimize machine downtime.
  • ERP experience (IFS advantageous but not essential).
  • Experience in a Private Equity (PE) environment is advantageous.
