Location: Edmonton
Full or Part-Time: Full-Time
Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week
Permanent/Temporary: Wage (1 year)
Scope: Open Competition
Closing Date: September 30, 2024
Classification: Program Services 3 Market Adjustment (023PSAMA)
Salary: $36.23 to $47.57 hourly
The Government of Alberta is committed to a diverse and inclusive public service that reflects the population we serve to best meet the needs of Albertans. Consider joining a team where diversity, inclusion and innovation are valued and supported.
Seniors, Community and Social Services provides supports for seniors, families, and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, financial supports, affordable housing, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs.
The Housing division within Alberta Seniors, Community and Social Services uses a community-based delivery model for the provision of housing programs, initiatives, and services to a wide variety of Albertans in need of housing solutions.
The Research and Analytics team within the Housing Division is seeking a self-motivated, results-driven individual with a passion for identifying complex issues and trends through data research. We are looking for an individual who can use research and analytical skills to support the affordable housing system in Alberta.
The Data and Research Analyst plays a key role in developing and supporting an integrated system view of Alberta’s affordable housing environment. This includes being responsible for identifying, compiling, organizing, analyzing, and reporting on data to support the core functions of the division.
The successful candidate must understand research methods and be able to use various types of data to answer questions. This may include administrative datasets, financial data, or qualitative data from surveys.
A key part of this role includes communicating with stakeholders to answer questions and complete Housing Needs Assessments to determine different housing needs across Alberta communities. This requires excellent communication skills and diligence in corresponding with stakeholders to provide necessary information.
The successful candidate requires strong writing skills and the ability to understand government priorities, identify issues and develop appropriate solutions. The candidate must be able to analyze information from various primary and secondary sources and provide evidence-based solutions or advice to senior leaders. This role requires the ability to organize and manage a multitude of projects simultaneously with both short and long-term timelines.
A university degree in a related field (public policy, social sciences, public administration, economics, or other related discipline) supplemented with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience in a research and/or policy environment is required.
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Experience in research, data collection, statistical analysis, and stakeholder relations, and project management is an asset. Knowledge of the Seniors, Community and Social Services processes and cross-ministry initiatives, as well as relevant legislation, regulations, policies, business plans and strategic initiatives of the department is considered an asset.
Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday – Friday
The wage position currently available is temporary for one (1) year.
Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave.
- 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay
