Who we hope to find:

PurposeMed is looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to drive technological innovation, build powerful and scalable systems to support our multiple verticals, and align technology initiatives with PurposeMed's overall business strategy. As a key member of the executive team, you'll be responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the company. You will be building and leading an engineering, product, and design team that enables an unparalleled patient experience, at a sustainable cost, through technology. Reporting to the CEO, this role will work directly with our founders and leaders from all functions across the business to ensure we're building solutions that solve our patients' complex healthcare needs in a scalable way. Ultimately, you'll help our team provide life-changing, affirming care to tens of thousands of patients.

In this role, you'll make an impact by:
  • Driving technological innovation and strategy
    • Building a clear vision and plan for the technology team to deliver a world-class telehealth experience that advances the business, using an efficient combination of proprietary and off-the-shelf software
    • Being the engineering leader who drives conversations about how technology can be leveraged in patient-first ways, bring new product verticals to market, and scale our technology team
  • Delivering exceptional patient experiences
    • Identifying opportunities for technology to improve the convenience, accessibility and quality of our care (reducing the time for patients to receive treatment, increasing our providers' capacity for managing more treatments, creating a stickier experience that increases patient loyalty, etc.)
    • Protecting patient information by ensuring our systems are compliant with Canadian and U.S. healthcare privacy and security regulations (e.g. PIPEDA, HIPAA, etc.)
    • Overseeing data management and analytics strategies, leveraging insights to drive business decisions and improve patient care outcomes
  • Developing a high-performing engineering, product, and design team
    • Clearly articulating the vision to inspire the team with a shared purpose
    • Hiring, mentoring, and leading top talent in engineering, product, design, IT, data, and security, through a mix of in-house and contractor talent where applicable
    • Encouraging a culture of collaboration and innovation by providing resources and a safe environment for rapid experimentation and creative problem-solving
    • Implementing management practices that maintain a high bar for quality and velocity in the engineering, product, and design organization
We need someone who has:
  • 8+ years in leadership roles (3+ years at VP-level equivalent or higher) in performance-oriented, dynamic technology companies
  • Successfully overseen the design, development, and maintenance of service platforms and high-performing technology teams
  • Exceptional communication skills—we appreciate a clear and concise communicator with the ability to synthesize a lot of information quickly, highlight the key takeaways, and disseminate actionable insights to multiple audiences (especially experience working with and translating to non-technical founders)
  • An ability to prioritize effectively across many initiatives, business units, and departments—we need someone who is unbothered by context switching, who can confidently shift focus onto the highest priorities as the needs of the business evolve
  • Strong business acumen and a commercial mindset—a deep understanding of the relationship between commercial/business operations, unit economics, and the resulting financials (P&L)
  • An innate understanding that business success is a shared endeavour—having a natural bias toward action and collaboration, the ideal candidate will constantly be pushing toward clarity, alignment and ultimately, delivery of results
  • A passion for PurposeMed's mission and solving healthcare challenges for underserved communities
It would also be great if you have:
  • Experience building technology for a company operating in a highly regulated industry
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing and integrating data management, IT infrastructure, and security/compliance functions
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks (such as GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) and best practices for safeguarding data and ensuring compliance

You'll be responsible for improving, monitoring, and reporting on the:

  • General health and performance of our technology (e.g., speed, stability, cost, etc.)
  • Progress delivering against a clearly defined technology roadmap
  • Impact of tech investments and initiatives on business performance (e.g., efficiency, growth, patient experience, etc.)
Compensation:
  • The compensation range for this role will vary depending on a candidate's relevant qualifications, knowledge, competencies, and work experience, and other factors including market conditions. Base pay is just one aspect of our total rewards at PurposeMed—see our other exciting benefits below
  • Earn stock options through our Equity Incentive Plan—connect your efforts to PurposeMed's growth as we work together to improve the lives of our patients across North America.
