THE POSITION

In support of a high-growth mandate, we’re hiring for the position of Senior Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team. At Maple, we believe in the power of data to drive innovation and shape the future. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in this transformative journey through building and maintaining our data platform infrastructure.

In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Co-owning Maple's data platform infrastructure, setting new standards in efficiency and scalability.
  • Guaranteeing the reliable ingestion, transformation, and availability of source data, empowering decision-makers with accurate insights.
  • Delivering automated reports to business partners and clients with precision and punctuality, contributing to seamless operations.
  • Collaborating with the team to construct intricate data models for advanced reporting and analysis.
  • Implementing CI/CD workflows and internal tools, boosting team productivity and efficiency.
  • Documenting processes, decisions, workflows, and best practices for future reference.
  • Supporting initiatives to enhance marketing analytics, product analytics, and experimentation capabilities.
  • Exploring and evaluating emerging tools, technologies, and practices.
  • Utilizing infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) to provide and configure third-party services ensures a robust foundation.

12 – 18 MONTH DELIVERABLES

Within the first 90 days, you will focus on establishing a robust foundation for Maple's data platform infrastructure. This includes taking ownership of the infrastructure, ensuring reliable data ingestion and transformation, and delivering automated reports to support seamless operations. Collaborating closely with other team members, you will contribute to constructing data models that drive advanced reporting and analysis. Additionally, you'll work on implementing CI/CD workflows and documenting processes for future reference.

In the next 12 to 18 months, you will implement changes to enhance automation, reliability, and performance. You will set up data quality monitoring systems, optimize data team workflow efficiency, mentor team members, share best practices, and contribute significantly to the team's objectives.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of hands-on experience in data or analytics engineering, showcasing a robust track record of designing, implementing, and optimizing data solutions. This experience should encompass the end-to-end data lifecycle, including data modelling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively articulate complex technical concepts.
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehouse services like Amazon Redshift (preferred), BigQuery, or Snowflake.
  • Familiarity with data integration tools such as Stitch, Fivetran, Census, Hightouch, etc.
  • Development experience using Python and SQL.
  • Proficiency in customer data platform (CDP) tools like RudderStack (preferred) or Segment.
  • A solid understanding and proficiency with data orchestration tools such as Dagster (preferred) or Airflow.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS (preferred), GCP, or Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge of analytics engineering practices and dbt.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence tools like Looker (preferred), Tableau, etc.A working knowledge of web technologies, including HTTP, HTML, and JavaScript.
  • Terraform experience (bonus points)
