Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Define requirements for injection molding processes and automation, from concept evaluation through commercialization. This requires creating molding specific documents/procedures.
  2. Develop specifications for part design, molding machine settings, operating procedures, acceptance and validation test plans and protocols.
  3. Provide technology input to guide product development and design for manufacturability.
  4. Cooperatively advise and direct activities of vendors and plant technicians to accomplish project objectives.
  5. Demonstrate complete understanding of a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in a manufacturing process technology.
  6. Possess general knowledge of other process technologies.
  7. Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, and practical.
  8. Communicate, coordinate, and execute tool design and injection molding process development activities including tooling validation into manufacturing locations.
  9. Work with cross-functional team to investigate and implement solutions to major manufacturing issues.
  10. Develop and execute validations protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ), engineering studies, and design of experiments.
  11. Successfully manage projects from design, prototype, and build through commercial launch. This includes initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing these projects efficiently.
  12. Lead cross-functional teams to successfully define, build, and validate mold build programs.
  13. Develop specifications and acceptance protocols to purchase production injection molds.
  14. Manage vendors in the design, development, and implementation of injection molds.
  15. Apply six-sigma and lean manufacturing methodologies to optimize injection molding processes.
  16. Develop processes by designing and/or performing experimental testing, data analysis, preparation of reports, and providing recommendations.
  17. Provide input into project technical strategy.

Key Qualifications:

  1. BSc. Engineering
  2. Strong technical background in plastic manufacturing operations including aspects of quality, safety, machine operations, troubleshooting, and output.
  3. Knowledge of lean principles and process optimization.
  4. Keen skills in problem solving, lean manufacturing, and project management.
  5. Solid understanding of plastics extrusion and/or injection molding manufacturing processes.
