General Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement strategies to exceed guest and employee expectations while optimizing financial performance.
  2. Provide expert support and guidance to subordinates and management.
  3. Plan and forecast to secure necessary approvals for departmental activities.
  4. Improve processes and procedures to enhance performance.
  5. Collaborate with department heads to resolve issues and challenges.
  6. Analyze and report on departmental key performance indicators and industry trends.
  7. Manage the maintenance and security budget and approvals.
  8. Lead and manage capital expenditure projects.
  9. Oversee property fire alarm systems, CCTV systems, and emergency evacuation procedures.
  10. Manage and maintain third-party contractor/vendor relationships for cost-effective services.
  11. Coordinate and implement preventative maintenance programs for guestrooms, public areas, and safety systems.
  12. Act as an active member of the property's operational executive team.
HR Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and support the recruitment process for supervisory maintenance positions.
  2. Manage and support team training according to company standards.
  3. Monitor departmental performance and take corrective action if necessary.
  4. Provide support and consultation for employee issues.
  5. Evaluate employee performance and assist in individual improvement plans.
  6. Promote diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
  7. Foster a culture of top performance and team morale.
  8. Ensure compliance with electrical and Health and Safety regulations.
Safety Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain awareness of BC Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.
  2. Ensure safety regulations are integrated into the resort and promote a safety culture.
  3. Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, manuals, and practices.
  4. Oversee inspections and occupational health and safety activities.
  5. Lead monthly safety meetings and ensure Joint Health and Safety committee requirements are met.
  6. Collaborate with Claims Manager during incident investigations.
  7. Work with HR Manager to ensure employee training meets requirements.
  8. Implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program to reduce workplace hazards.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum five years of facilities management experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.

Technical Knowledge or Specialized Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Knowledge of engineering and facilities management.

Strong decision-making and judgment skills.

High level of ethics and integrity.

Mediating and negotiating skills.

Strong leadership skills.

Staff management knowledge.
