At PopReach Games, we deeply value an intentional and creative approach to game design, believing a great design team is the first step in creating games people will love. We're looking for a skilled Senior Game Designer to help launch our exciting new IP-based cozy game. Our vision is to create games that showcase the diverse range of human experiences, building worlds where every player, no matter their background, feels understood and appreciated. Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the creative team to develop innovative game mechanics and engaging gameplay systems.
- Design and implement gameplay systems that enhance the player experience and drive engagement.
- Polishing game mechanics in Unity.
- Create and balance game features to ensure they resonate with players and provide a rewarding experience.
- Refining the player experience.
- Work with the art, development and narrative teams to ensure cohesive integration of game mechanics and storytelling.
- Develop and iterate on game design documents, ensuring clarity and thoroughness.
- Playtest and provide feedback on game features to ensure quality and player satisfaction.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in game design in mobile free to play game development and or PC/Console games
- Proficiency in Unity with strong skills in prototyping and polishing game mechanics.
- A strong sense of what makes a gameplay experience compelling and fun.
- Expertise in feature design.
- Passionate about the cozy game genre.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- Experience with liveops
- Creative thinker with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently while also thriving in a team environment.
Candidates will be asked to provide a portfolio of previous work.
Nice To Have:
- Proficiency in C#.
- Strong understanding of game economies and experience building and tuning them.
- Enjoying and keeping up-to-date with children's books and cartoons.
- Passion for designing games about friendship and belonging.
- Curiosity about how emotions relate to the unconscious mind.
- Hours spent playing cozy games like Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley.
