About Invictus Games 2025:
The Invictus Games is a biennial international adaptive sporting competition for wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans from around the world. Through the power of sport, the Games inspire recovery, support rehabilitation, and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who have served their country.

The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will take place from February 8 to 16, 2025, on the traditional territories of the Lil ̓ wat7 ú l (L í l ̓ wat), x w m ə θ k wə y ̓ə m (Musqueam), S ḵ wx ̱ w ú 7mesh (Squamish) and s ə lilw ə ta ɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Over 500 wounded, injured and sick service personnel and Veterans from more than 20 nations are set to compete in a wide range of adaptive sports, including adaptive winter sports, for the first time in Invictus Games history.

The Vancouver Whistler Games Corporation (VWGC) is a Canadian not-for-profit organization established to organize and host the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025.

The Role

As a Budget Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring effective financial management within each functional area. You will be responsible for overseeing budget planning, monitoring, and reporting activities to support strategic decision-making and fiscal responsibility. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information effectively to stakeholders at all levels.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
Budget Management

  • Work directly with budget holders to review results vs budget and develop cost to completion
  • Provide support of budget holders on procurement / contracting policy and strategy and execution
  • Identify potential savings that may be applied to over-runs or be taken back for contingency
  • Identify, report, and work to mitigate potential budget pressures and over-runs
Forecasting
  • Assist budget holders with developing detailed forecast to completion
  • Working with budget holders to profile contracting and expenditures to assist with organizational cash management
  • Develop data and reporting to support organization wide expense and cash forecasting
Risk Management
  • Work with budget holders to populate RAID log and provide guidance on evaluation of risks
  • Assist with developing risk mitigation strategies for identified risks
  • Work to ensure consistency in risk scoring
  • Pull risk reports from RAID log for integration into organizations risk register
Reporting
  • Develop and support financial, budget, and cash forecasting reports for budget holders, directors, senior leadership and other users
  • Develop and support budget dashboard
  • Develop and support reporting on budget changes, contingencies, and value in kind
Qualifications, Skills, Competencies:
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) preferred.
  • Proven experience in budget planning, analysis, and management, preferably in a corporate or nonprofit environment.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with a keen attention to detail and the ability to identify trends and patterns in financial data.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and influence decision-making at various organizational levels.
  • Solid understanding of financial regulations, compliance standards, and risk management principles.
