Driller Operator

The Driller will operate a Directional Drilling machine and drive the support vehicle(s) used to transport this equipment to various project sites. This is a unionized position with benefits and pension.

Salary: $36.00-39.00/Hour, Benefits, Pension, Vacation, as well as lots of room for growth.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Load, transport and unload directional drill equipment and tools in a manner that is secure and damage-free.
  • Complete a daily inspection of equipment prior to commencing work.
  • Prepare the drilling fluid based on site conditions prior to boring commencing.
  • In conjunction with a locator, operate the directional drill using the selected bore heads and back reamers to place cables and/or duct.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in drilling.
  • Valid Class A driver’s license with an ‘Z’ endorsement.
  • Must have previous experience and be proficient in the operation of a directional drill and associated locate set.
  • Ability to read and understand utility locates.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Will work in all weather conditions, day, night, or weekend with possible overnight stays.
  • Must provide a clean driving record (abstract) prior to employment commencing.
  • Able to operate heavy equipment (mini excavators, backhoes).
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements.
