Apex Systems is Looking For: Senior Application Developer- PowerBuilder

Location: Regina, SK

We are seeking a Senior Application Developer for our client located in Regina, SK. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing software application solutions and participating in the selection, adoption and adaptation of appropriate software design methods, tools and techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Has technical responsibility across all stages and levels of software development – from planning, constructing, measuring, and monitoring to the execution of building application software.
  2. Selects, adopts and adapts appropriate software design methods, tools and techniques.
  3. Leads the analysis and development of major design projects and solution architecture and makes recommendations throughout the entire process, while ensuring that appropriate tools and methods are available.
  4. Develops implementation plans for complex requests for changes to an application.
  5. Coordinates and manages planning of the system and/or acceptance tests, such as software security testing within a development, integration project or program.
  6. Maintains client relationships with internal and external customers.
  7. Leads the assessment, analysis, planning and design of release packages for large or complex software components.
  8. Provides expertise and guidance to Junior Developers on the configuration of software, testing, and development of applications.
  9. Maintains application support processes and ensures all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures.
Knowledge and Skills:

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of information systems used as well as application programming, database, and system design. Excellent interpersonal, influencing and facilitation skills, with the ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language. Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities. Strong team player with proven ability to assist in high-pressure situations. Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external customers in a diverse industry. Superior written and oral communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. Knowledgeable in business application development using PowerBuilder and Oracle SQL & PL/SQL.

Education and Qualifications:

Minimum of seven (7) years related business and/or systems experience. Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. Minimum five (5) years experience in PowerBuilder application development. Experience with: PowerBuilder v2017 or higher Oracle SQL & PL/SQL Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
