Job Description

We currently have an opening for a Junior Environmental Scientist in our Whitehorse office. 

You have technical experience with regulatory permitting and environmental monitoring. You enjoy problem-solving, tackling complex projects, and have an understanding and desire to be an environmental consultant. You will work both independently and with other scientists on a wide variety of field and office assignments. You want to work in a dynamic team environment and actively contribute to a variety of interesting and challenging projects.

What you will be doing:

  • Assessing environmental effects and preparing regulatory applications.
  • Conducting environmental monitoring and auditing for construction projects. 
  • Conducting field surveys, which could include bird nest surveys and fish salvages. 
  • Traveling to remote locations.
  • Writing work plans, proposals, and technical and summary reports, and communications for non-technical audiences.
  • Managing and analyzing data and reporting
  • Collaborating with a dynamic team of environmental scientists and engineers across various geographies and disciplines.
  • Building professional relationships with clients and regulators.
Job Requirements


What you will bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in an environmental discipline (e.g., biology, environmental science, geography, earth science, soil/reclamation science, or similar). 
  • 2+ years' experience in environmental science, or related field. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with software for word processing, data management, and presentations.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines and budgets within a team environment. 
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards for the practice. 
  • Valid driver's licence.
